My experience with just coming in every day, training, and leaving, was that progress was extremely slow, and every time there was a break, like over the weekend, progress had been lost. When the training finally did sink in, it turned out the it had learned to only be good with me and not its owner, who had continued to reinforce the bad behaviors.
That is why a dog trainer is mostly there for the owners sake, rather than the dog. You teach the pet owners to train their dogs. And sadly, I'm not as good with people as I am with animals. I could potentially start some sort of blog or online class on the subject, but for now the idea will have to remain a dream.
I write a dog training blog! Well, I have rambled on for about two hundred words and posted them to the internet, it's probably a little overstated to call it "writing a blog." [link]
